Built in 1955, Deltic was made to be a sales tool for rail use of the Napier Deltic power unit, which had been developed for marine use. English Electric in Preston constructed the locomotive with an eye towards the export market, and Deltic’s stylish striping and striking dummy headlight hint to Transatlantic trade which never came.

The name comes from the Greek letter delta, and refers to the shape of the diesel engine itself. Tested until 1961, by which time it had accumulated 450,000 miles, it has been part of the Science Museum collection since then.

The locomotive is finished in WCML Livery condition with the addition of 2 Headboards. Only 512 have been produced and it is bound to be a popular model, so don't miss out on your chance to add it to your collection.
